“ Wavenet’s video to voice call completion solution (VCC) along with their video services delivery platform (VSDP) has worked superbly for us in maintaining a steady and firm hand in the 3G services in the country with a satisfied 3G customer base and a sizable revenue"

The current mobile telecommunications landscape is a highly crowded, intensively competitive one, where operators are waging war on the price front rather than on the service front; a scenario where all parties concerned ends up losing. The way forward is to differentiate and stratify their services portfolio and offer customers creative and exciting services which will enhance, enliven and enrich their experience. The Wavenet Spark suite of voice and video VAS solutions helps operators achieve just that.

Wavenet EVC (Enhanced Video calling) is a 3G video calling suite of complimentary products, which epitomizes the Wavenet Spark line of solutions by enhancing and enriching the subscriber video calling experience. These solutions aim to maximize an operator's 3G service usage thereby bringing returns on the operator’s substantial 3G infrastructure expenditure.

Wavenet’s VCC solution enables video call users to complete video calls as voice calls in instances of call failure. When a video call fails the user is given the option to complete it as a voice call and while the connection is being established “bridging” videos are played to keep the user engaged. This is an exciting service which essentially allows mobile users to be independent of technology by bridging voice and video users together.

The reality of 3G
Although 3G services have been available globally for a number of years, now there remains a significant base of consumers yet to make the transition. While various factors have been attributed to the underwhelming uptake rates, the fact remains that 3G service failures and reliability have been one of the main issues for low mass adoption.

Benefits of VCC
Provision of VCC to video call users is guaranteed to increase subscriber satisfaction due to fewer failed video calls, which is currently a significant issue that operators need to address. Additionally it affords operators space for advertisement placement, which will open up another revenue stream. Most importantly, innovative services such as VCC will encourage increased usage of 3G services, which are highly underutilized in most networks; bringing much valued return on infrastructure expenditure.

Video Ring Back Tone (VRBT) is a facility that allows the subscribers to configure a customizable video clip to play during the ringing phase of a receiving call. When a video call is originated to the subscriber, during the ringing phase the call originator will experience this video till the subscriber answers the call. Subscribers are given the ability to assign/customize this video according to their preference. Operators have the opportunity of maintaining a rich content base by allowing subscribers and content providers the ability to upload contents.

Video-Emoticons are a fun experience that enhances a person’s video calling by enabling them to powerfully and consciously express an emotion or feeling during their video conservation. The user can send a visual love tone, a visual sarcastic tone, or a funny tone which will be seen by both parties in mid conservation. Additionally, the called party will in turn be able to send a tone back to the caller. V-Emoticons are a fun, easy to use service that involves nothing more than pressing a button on the phone to generate the tone.
