Wavenet hosted a workshop for Etisalat Sri Lanka at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo recently. The aim of the workshop was to introduce Wavenet’s latest line of innovative solutions to the Etisalat team. The sessions were coupled with product demos for some of the solutions.

The Wavenet team took this opportunity to introduce the truly ground breaking “Local Data Roamer” product a.k.a LDR. This solution enables consumers to have access to mobile data at local rates whilst they are roaming in a foreign country. This is an extremely valuable service in the age of smartphones, which are highly reliant on data services and are essentially unusable without it. “When one is travelling is when we are most reliant on our smartphones be it for getting directions, placing a hotel reservation or looking up recommendations for a restaurant; smartphones can be invaluable to us. However people lose access to these services as data is extremely expensive when roaming and this is where LDR will come into shakeup the roaming landscape” said Mr. Praveen De Silva, Wavenet technical presales engineer.

Product demonstrations were followed by Q&A sessions where personnel from Etisalat took the opportunity to get an in-depth understanding of Wavenet’s solutions. The workshop gave the Wavenet team the opportunity to understand the future direction of Etisalat in the services space.

This was also an occasion for representatives from both organizations to socialize and catch up with one another. Etisalat has been a long time partner of Wavenet and together have introduced many pioneering services into the Sri Lankan market, such as Etisalat Facebook Chat. Key personnel from Etisalat, including CEO Mr. Dumindra Rathnayake, CTO Mr. Sanath Pilapitya, and CCO Mr. Robert Lee were in attendance on the day.
