Wavenet Kubernetes VAS (kVAS)

Transitioning Telco organisations from uVAS to kVAS

Wavenet’s kVAS solution, also known as Kubernetes VAS, is a natural evolution and upgrade from its consolidated unified VAS application platform. When Wavenet introduced the Unified VAS solution earlier in previous years, it was already ahead of the market in terms of virtualization which was the bedrock of its technology. It also used consolidation of applications at a software-level which enabled fluid licensing, efficient resource allocation and elimination of spider web connections though a solution that offered a single point of integration. Wavenet kVAS is an award-winning, proven solution, trusted by customers around the world.

Leveraging Operational efficiencies using deep tech and Kubernetes

Once infrastructure decisions are made, the natural, next step is to empower a telco to dynamically manage applications that provide key functionality required for operate. This is where the depth of technology agility becomes critical. For example, Kubernetes containerisation becomes significant when used for orchestration of applications, processing, functioning and frameworks.

Wavenet has incorporated the best of its existing uVAS platform with capabilities of K8s to enable Telcos to manage both messaging and media related application services in scalable manner that allows further pods to be added when traffic grows or shut down pods that are not required. It also assists in managing redundancies by spinning-up pods and containers inside a different node within the cluster, in case of failures. Along with a robust CI/CD pipeline, any new feature releases, security patches etc. can be easily implemented in the running services with minimal impact.

Automated deployments through CI/CD

kVAS deployed in k8 clusters running on a Telco Cloud environment allows for feature updates or release upgrades to Docker images to be implemented in running pods with minimal effort. This is in stark contrast to how previous releases had to be manually configured, tested and integrated to a live environment with significant downtimes.

Third-party integrations and Canvas-based design

Third-party integrations and Canvas-based design

Along with Wavenet kVAS, Telco organisations can leverage other third-party or their own applications and other assets which can be onboarded via ahasa® - the drag and drop feature inside the canvas allows for a visual solution to be designed and built by the user. If required, some solution design components such as the kVAS SMPP service can be reused to minimise effort taken to deploy services.

Less investment, higher returns

Operators do not want to incur additional cost on any idle hardware or software, or unused human resources. The uVAS platform has an easy sign-up procedure which conducts a test run for this purpose, and then selects the right package for the business. This allows for scaling up or lowering usage as per the demands of the organisation. With such a flexible model, organisations can maximise their investments and execute sustainable services in the longer term.

No infrastructure overheads

No infrastructure overheads

A challenge in legacy environments is the high probability of infrastructure overheads. Centralised infrastructure is expensive and can become difficult to manage over time. This also means that companies require special resources to manage infrastructure as well. Our kVAS solution can be easily deployed on the already available Cloud environments of Telcos, be it private or public Cloud, as well as being Cloud environment agnostic, be it GCP or AWS. This in turn offers a more efficient infrastructure model that can be easily managed. Additionally, Telcos can easily scale services via k8s which automatically adds pods to handle growing traffic needs.

Take a journey towards excellence

At Wavenet, we want to ensure that our customers to join us on a journey of excellence, where we grow together implementing and benefiting from best of breed technology. We want our customers to become future-centric leaders using innovation created by Wavenet. We evolve with technology– this is why we have moved our U in ‘uVAS’ to k as in ‘kVAS’!
