Wavenet Group company selected to provide emergency dispatch management technology to Sri Lanka

Wavenet Group company, ‘Wavenet Solutions’ was announced as the technology provider for the new 1990 pre-hospital care ambulance dispatching service in Sri Lanka. The back-end Emergency Dispatch Management (EDM) technology connects the free ambulance Service to Sri Lankans by dialing 1990 from a landline or through the third-party mobile app. The innovative EDM System was developed by Wavenet Solutions and launched officially at the Suwe Seriya Foundation Head Office on 8th May 2019. The Foundation is fully owned by the Government of Sri Lanka and operates under the Ministry of Economic Reforms and Public Distribution.

The new EDMS was developed by Wavenet Solutions and together with the mobile App developed by a third-party will allow for fast dispatching of ambulances with accurate location info of the caller, enabling the closest ambulance to reach the patient faster. The system helps reduce response times, assisting in emergency responses to patients suffering especially from cardiac arrests and strokes. This initiative will bring high reliability and efficiencies to the ambulance service in Sri Lankan and in all corners of the country.

“Research states that every minute of reduced response time increases the chances of survival by approximately 10%.”

Dumindra Ratnayak, Chairman of the Board of the Suwa Seriya Foundation stated that the significance of this new system is that it makes Sri Lanka second to none in emergency dispatch systems anywhere in the world.

Wavenet Solutions CEO, Dilum Kumarasinghe commented on this occasion “We are delighted to deliver this custom technology solution and work with Suwa Seriya Foundation to save thousands of lives and contribute towards building a more efficient healthcare ecosystem in the country. The technology developed by Wavenet Solutions includes an intuitive GUI (Graphical User Interface) that will help reduce the call center’s call handling and call response time. It uses automated location tracking to identify the emergency call location and integrates the ambulance and resource databases to inform the agent of important information at the time of the call. This ensures the quick dispatching of emergency units efficiently to the emergency locations. As a Sri Lankan technology company where the tech hub is located in Sri Lanka, there is no greater cause than to help contribute towards the development of our own country. We are very proud of our staff’s capabilities and in-house talent that has made an impact through our technology on a national level”.

Suren Pinto, CEO of Wavenet Group also commented, “The Wavenet Group through all its subsidiaries are focused on bringing new innovation and technology that changes the way organizations and communities work. As a Group, we deliver on various tech solutions in multiple industries such as telecoms, IT, aviation and in a number of countries around the world.
